Another gala themed with the anniversary of one of the Big Four railway groups. The Great Western Railway was celebrating its 175th anniversary. The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway annual Cotswold festival of steam gala took place from may 29th till june 6th and was to take upon this theme with many great western locomotives running, some of which were either visiting or is a resident to the line. Again the GWSR put on a great show for their gala showing the true spirit of the GWR in many aspects; even a line closure between Gotherington and Cheltenham Racecourse did not stop them. Therefore because of this when engines head down to Gotherington at Winchcombe they add a locomotive on the back of the train so they are top and tailed to make the return journey to Winchcombe and Toddington possible. The locomotives to take part in this celebrate are -- Guest locos:- | GWR 'Manor' Class No 7802 'Bradley Manor' | GWR 43XX Class No 5322 | GWR 14XX Class No 1450 (Failed and therefore did not operate on 5th June) | GWR 57XX Class No 4612 | GWR 2884 Class No 3803 (Did not operate on 5th June) | BR(W) 5101 Class No 4160 (Did not operate on 5th June) | BR(W) 94XX Class No 9466 Home Fleet:- | GWR 'City' Class No 3717 'City of Truro' | GWR 4575 Class No 5542 | LMS 8F No 8274 as GWR Built 8F No 8476 (Fresh from overhaul) | BR(W) 'Modified Hall' Class No 7903 'Formarke Hall' (Did not operate on 5th June) | BR 9F No 92203 'Black Prince' (On display at Toddington) Also another locomotive was in steam during the gala, this was Robert Stephenson & Hawthorne 0-4-0ST 'Olwen' but it appeared at the gala as GWR No 1144 in BR Black doing brakevan rides at Gotherington. During the day the 8F failed so its duties were taken over by pannier 9466, later in the day the 8F became operational and took over from pannier tank 4612. After coming to the gala on the 30th May I really enjoyed myself and I wanted to get a little extra GWR steam before this brilliant gala had come to a close and also to see 4612 operating on trains. The day was to be rather quiet because most of what was featured on our 30th May videos did not want to be repeated. (If you not seen the video from then please watch). For this day I was joined with JBTEvans and theonlyadsrulz. My video of the gala on 30th may -- • Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, The ...
