She is an anthropomorphic tenrec with modified cybernetic enhancements implanted by Dr. Starline and with no memories of her past, and the companion of Kitsunami the Fennec. She was made for the sole intended purpose of destroying Sonic the Hedgehog and replacing him as the hero of the world. However, after discovering the secret of her origin, Surge would begin seeking revenge on everyone she blames for her past life being taken away from her. Though after realizing that her creator is gone, she now seeks to become her own hero while also taking out Sonic and Dr. Eggman whenever they show up. Rebecca is the tritagonist of the 2022 Netflix cyberpunk anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the prequel series to the 2020 video game Cyberpunk 2077, and the main protagonist of its 2024 prequel manga Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness. She's an edgerunner and is part of the Maine's crew. She is sharp-tongued young woman, and has a tendency to be extreme and unpredictable. She was often shown going all out in fights, sometimes even laughing manically. Nevertheless, Rebecca is loyal and does everything for the crew of Maine, including supporting newcomer David where she can.
