It is often said that Jennie Wade was the only civilian casualty of the Battle of Gettysburg. While she was the only citizen of Gettysburg to be killed during the three days of fighting, others died as a direct result of the battle, were wounded during the fighting, or taken prisoner by the invading army. Join ACHS Historian Tim Smith for this lecture as he tells the little known stories of some 30 civilian casualties from the battle. This program was originally recorded on January 25, 2025 at the Adams County Historical Society. --- Visit us in-person at Gettysburg Beyond the Battle Museum, recently voted "Best New Museum" by USA TODAY readers and a 2024 Traveler's Choice Winner on TripAdvisor, at 625 Biglerville Road, just north of Gettysburg. Don't miss free public programs with Tim Smith most Saturdays at 11 a.m. For more information or to reserve museum tickets in advance, visit www.gettysburgbeyondthebattle.org. — Follow us on: Facebook: / achspa Instagram: / achsgettysburg TikTok: / achsgettysburg
