Melodic triads offer us the ability to study and control tension and resolution. While developing triad pairs is not the only thing we do, it is possible, and we attempt to continue focusing on tension and resolution. Here I am using a C#diminished triad to create tension and a B major triad to create resolution... all over an EminMaj9 chord. I'm displaying a few different triad pair application techniques.
