Today’s Donut Destination is the last surviving Mister Donut in North America located 22 miles from St. Louis in Godfrey, Illinois! In 1955, Harry Winokur and his brother in law Bill Rosenburg broke off their partnership, each to begin his own chain of coffee and doughnut shops. In 1956 Harry founded Mister Donut and Bill founded Dunkin Donuts. This particular donut shop opened in 1980 and the store’s bright orange and white color scheme matches its retro vibe! I met the current owner, Caesar Blanco who bought the store from the original owner back in 2004.
