Fire - Engine 1 Commissioning Ceremony - Feb. 4, 2019

After many years of service, Longview Fire Station 1, located at 200 S. Center St. has retired its Engine 1 and welcomed its replacement with a wash down. The "wash down" is a tradition across the country, but is the first for the Longview Fire Department. The wash down is when the new engine passes the two other apparatuses that have been previously put into commission and is rinsed off by the old fire engine. Fire personnel then takes turns drying it off and pushing it into its new home. It was a wonderful event to have our Firefighters, Fire Chiefs, councilman Ed Moore and spectators taking part in this new tradition. Our new engine (E1) is equipped with extra lighting features for safety and accessible functions that help the firefighters to be more efficient when called to duty. Fire Engine 1 is one of our busiest engines in the city and ranks on the list of the top 100 busiest fire engines in the nation. We look forward to breaking in our new E1.
