I will say that making this giant boomerang has been one of the most fun science-problem solving videos we’ve ever made. At first I didn’t think it was possible, but after the first throw of our prototype I got really excited that it could work. After we doubled the thickness of the foamboard I knew we were in business! The only issue to solve from there was that it was too heavy to catch! The solve here was to split the difference and create ply-foamboard. This was the winning ticket. With the right materials we were able to create a GIANT 5 FOOT BOOMERANG that not only went up in the air and came back, but that I could also catch! I will admit, a boomerang of this size is a bit like a contact sport, so if you try this on your own please do so at your own risk!
