A California storm series is lining up to be one of the most productive snow events we’ve seen in a year, especially in the mountains. Several systems will move through beginning this weekend and continuing through next week, delivering significant mountain snowfall along with beneficial rainfall, particularly across Southern California. Winter Storm Warnings are expected to be posted in the higher elevations, and travel in and out of the mountains will be sketchy at best when storms are active. If you have travel plans, timing will matter. Expect chain controls, road delays, and difficult driving conditions, especially during peak storm periods. Rainfall potential looks solid as well, with much-needed precipitation for Southern and Central California. While there will be breaks between systems, this is shaping up to be a true storm series, not just a one-off event. Also keep an eye on morning and afternoon commutes, as wet roads, reduced visibility, and increased traffic could slow things down during the week ahead. We’ll walk through the latest models, timing, snowfall totals, rainfall projections, and travel impacts — California north to south — plus live cameras and real-time conditions.
