‘हमें भिखारी बना दिया ठगे 14 करोड़’ कैसे हुआ साल का सबसे बड़ा Cyber fraud, EXCLUSIVEL Details This video by Saurabh Shukla of The Red Mike details a shocking cyber fraud case where an elderly couple, Dr. Indira Taneja and Dr. Om Taneja, lost 14 crores of their life savings. The couple, who are American citizens and retired doctors/engineers, returned to India to perform social service, only to become victims of a sophisticated digital arrest scam. Here's a breakdown of the events: • Initial Contact and Threats (4:48-10:11): On December 24th, Dr. Indira Taneja received a call from someone claiming to be from TRAI, alleging her phone number was involved in obscene content and money laundering, with an arrest warrant issued. They then connected her to "Mumbai Police" via a video call, showing her an emblem and a "policeman" (0:36-0:52). The fraudsters used scare tactics, showing a photo of Naresh Goyal (Jet Airways owner) and claiming he was involved in a ₹500 crore fraud, stating the couple was a suspect in a "National Defense Security" case (6:33-8:08). They threatened to arrest them and bring them to Mumbai, or worse, have them killed by Goyal's men if they leaked the information (9:09-9:30). • Digital Arrest and Isolation (10:12-17:20): The couple was put under "digital arrest" for 16 days, being told they couldn't leave their home or talk to anyone, including their children, maid, or driver, as it would "leak the secret" and pose a "threat to national defense security" (2:44-2:56, 10:06-11:14, 13:17-13:30). They were under constant surveillance, with a video call active 24/7, monitoring their every move and even their prayers (13:59-14:50). • Money Transfer and Realization (11:45-20:00): The fraudsters coerced them into transferring all their money, totaling 14 crores, in 8 transactions, by making them write letters to the Supreme Court and RBI, promising the money would be refunded after "verification" (12:20-12:55, 18:40-18:50). They were made to believe that if they didn't comply, their lives were in danger and it would be an act against the nation (13:02-13:12, 13:26-13:37). The couple only realized they were defrauded when the scammers disappeared after the last transfer on January 9th (19:02-19:05). • Intervention by Real Police (21:06-24:57): The scammers, in a final act of manipulation, told Dr. Taneja to go to a nearby police station and tell them specific codes for a refund. When she went, the real SHO (Station House Officer) arrived, and the scammer on the phone (who was on an audio call with Dr. Taneja) started verbally abusing the real SHO, demanding they "reverse the funds" (22:06-23:00). It was at this point that the real SHO told Dr. Taneja, "Ma'am, shut him up. You've been defrauded" (23:33-23:36). • How the couple was duped (soundbyte details): The fraudsters used a combination of threats and emotional manipulation: • "You have to cooperate with us. Whatever we say, keep doing it, otherwise your life is in danger. They scared you a lot." (10:12-10:15) • "They hypnotized you; they mesmerized you with all these stories and all these threats." (13:40-13:44) • "They became so good to you that you felt like he's our child, he's helping us." (1:02-1:06, 14:52-14:56) • "I cried and cried that now we will be caught, that we two are so naive, so foolish, that we just sat there comfortably." (1:11-1:17, 15:54-15:57) This incident highlights the growing menace of cybercrime in India, which has seen a three-fold increase, with over 2 lakh cases registered in 2024 alone, leading to over 2.25 lakh crores in losses (29:26-30:14). Cyber experts emphasize that fraudsters often target vulnerable individuals, especially the elderly who live alone, and isolate them from their families (32:12-32:41, 34:10-34:20). It is crucial for people to be aware of these tactics and report such incidents to cyber police stations immediately (34:36-34:44). #cybersecurity #cyberfrauds #delhinews #14cr #police #fraudsalert Join this channel to get access to perks: / @theredmike.
