Abstract: East Forest’s 2019 five-hour album, Music for Mushrooms: A Soundtrack for the Psychedelic Practitioner, is the singular musical guide in existence for supporting people during their experience specifically with psilocybin. The five-hour experience is designed to musically guide the psilocybin experience from start to finish. The album also reached #1 on the iTunes charts after its release (May 2019). With ten years of active research and development of his methodology through guiding hundreds of individuals through therapeutic psilocybin ceremonies, East Forest offers an unprecedented musical tool to help support the emerging field of psychedelic therapy for which music plays a central and fundamental role. Bio: East Forest is an international wellness leader, teacher, and producer who has inspired millions of people of all ages around the world to dive deeper into their inner life. He has trail-blazed a grounded and inclusive path in the wellness movement by building connections between the digital and natural worlds. His work cross-pollinates technology, nature, and the human experience with a non-religious, yet deeply spiritual, brain-body approach aimed toward personal development; his methodology. A regular speaker and performer at festivals and conferences, East Forest also leads sold-out in-person retreats for deeper immersive experiences at the Esalen Institute—where he is a faculty member—as well as at his adopted home in the high desert in Southern Utah. He has collaborated with Johns Hopkins’ neuroaesthetics program, Google, the silicon-valley based Consciousness Hacking group, the Science and Nonduality (SAND) conference, TED, Imperial College London, Wavepaths, and more. East Forest's musical collaborations include the creation of the Ram Dass album that was released in 2019; the album reached #1 on iTunes music charts and has been listened to over 10 million times to date on Spotify alone. The album consists of East Forest’s recordings of new teachings from the acclaimed spiritual teacher at his home in Maui in the summer of 2018, which became Ram Dass’ final recorded teachings. East Forest then composed the soundtrack to carefully support each songs’ subject, covering topics such as dark thoughts, nature, technology, and much more. A new additional Ram Dass single is also releasing in collaboration with the artist Jon Hopkins (Coldplay, Brian Eno, Radiohead) on Domino records in early 2021. East Forest has been featured on the likes of NPR (“Just blissful”), Wired (“Immersive and vivid”), Huffington Post (“He creates narrative”), and Paste Magazine (“Beautiful”), among many other publications. He tours regularly across the U.S., Canada, China, Australia, and Europe, with a diverse catalog of thirty releases and counting.
