Diamond of the Year 2016 - Anna Toman | Challenge Cancer

Every year at the Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend Gala Dinner, Challenge presents the Diamond of the Year Award to one woman who consistently goes above and beyond her call of duty to help our organisation. The 2016 recipient, Anna Toman, was presented with her award in conjunction with celebrating her tenth year as Chairwoman of the Women for Challenge Committee. Anna’s involvement with Challenge dates back to 1996 when she volunteered at various camps and was instrumental in creating the Challenge music program. She assisted in the nurturing of our services and through this involvement, has been able to witness first-hand the powerful impact these programs can have on children and families living with cancer. Anna’s role with Challenge grew from developing the inaugural Diamonds Dinner Dance in 2001 through to chairing the Committee. Since becoming a mother herself, Anna has gained an even greater insight into the effect that an illness can have on a family. She has always been a beacon for the Challenge organisation, with her deeds inspiring us to reach greater heights whilst serving to improve the quality of lives of countless families. Anna never falters in her effort and determination; whenever there is a request for a child to meet a music personality or an artist travelling through the country, she is the first person to assist us and does her utmost to meet these requests. As Chairwoman of the Women for Challenge Committee, Anna has taken the Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend Gala Dinner to new levels of success. She has been a pillar of strength for Challenge with her passion and devotion to the work we do, but particularly to the Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend Gala Dinner. Anna is truly one of the most consistently hard-working and compassionate people we know. For Challenge, it was a huge privilege and honour to present Anna Toman with the 2016 Diamond of the Year Award.
