A few things I forgot to mention in the video: You can actually graft smaller, thinner scion wood onto larger, thicker rootstock. Just make sure to insert the scion wood at the outer edge of the rootstock cut, and make sure the scion is flush with the outer edge of the thicker rootstock. This edge is where the cambium layer is. The cambium layers of the scion and rootstock have to touch in order for the graft to be successful! -- Best time for grafting is July through November here in the LA area. It might be different in your part of the world. - It doesn't matter what part of the tree you take scion wood from. It can be from the top, the sides, the bottom- doesn't matter. I've had successful grafts by taking scion wood from the bottom region of huge avocado trees. These bottom parts were the only parts I could reach!
