Stand Up Paddleboarding - River Surfing, Japan

This was my first attempt at a new type of surfing called SUP or Stand Up Paddleboarding. It differs from real surfing in that you don't necessarily catch waves but you do stand up and ride/paddle the board. I had mixed feelings about this sport at first, but its since grown rapidly in popularity and people of all ages/levels can enjoy SUP without the learning curve of surfing ocean waves. Flat water surfaces are best for SUP such as lakes, or calm ocean conditions with little wind and no surf. We thought taking the SUP's out on a flowing river would simulate the dynamic of real ocean surfing (it didn't), but it certainly did present a different type of action/challenge & turned out to be a real buzz.
