This is a fan-made video honoring Lily Evans Potter and Severus Snape and the friendship they shared—one that ultimately shaped the entire Potter series. The video took me quite a lot of time to make but I'm pleased with the end result and I hope others enjoy it. Video Content Description: The video opens with Petunia and Lily Evans as children being remembered by an adult Severus Snape. He recalls his and Lily's childhood, their friendship, and their early days at Hogwarts. After the infamous 'Mudblood' incident in their fifth year, Lily and Snape are no longer friends (though he still loves her), while Lily has taken to James Potter, later falling in love with him. After graduating from Hogwarts, James and Lily marry while Snape becomes a Death Eater, all while Voldemort is steadily continuing to rise in power. Due to a prophecy concerning Harry Potter as the one who may vanquish Lord Voldemort, James and Lily are targeted by him and go into hiding. Snape realizes Lily's life is in danger and risks everything to try and protect Lily and her family. Despite his best efforts, the Potters are betrayed and James and Lily are murdered by Voldemort. Only Harry survives the attack, having been protected by his mother's loving sacrifice. After her death, Snape is devastated, but after realizing Harry has his mother's eyes, he recommits his life back to the forces of good, pledges his allegiance to Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix, and vows for the rest of his life to protect Lily's son to honor her sacrifice and to prevent her death from being in vain. The video then goes to Snape at the Potters' home in Godric's Hollow just after the murders of James and Lily and the first downfall of Voldemort. Snape realizes what has happened, finds James is dead, and is reluctant to look for Lily, knowing she is almost certainly gone too. As he is walking down the hallway in search of Lily, he imagines how she must have died and then flashes back to a moment in their friendship when they were children, realizing he would give anything to go back to that day and do everything again the right way. His worst fears are confirmed when he finds Lily dead in front of Harry's crib, though Harry is miraculously alive. Weighed down by guilt, regret, and sorrow, he holds her close one last time. The video then flashes nearly seventeen years into the future to Harry and Snape moments before the latter's death. Snape reveals, in his own way, that he has kept his promise to Lily by telling Harry, "You have your mother's eyes." Harry realizes, just before Snape dies, that this man he hated for so long had more to him than he could have ever imagined. * * * * * * This may not be my best work ever, but I am pleased with how it turned out.
