This is a short video from the Aug. 15, 1966 Major League Baseball game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Red Sox in Boston, won by the Orioles, 4-2. It is from the WHDH TV in Boston broadcast, with Ken Coleman and Ned Martin on play by play and Mel Parnell on analysis. John Powell, whose iconic nickname "Boog" was just entering the zeitgeist, hit three home runs to lead the Orioles over the Red Sox in 11 innings at Fenway Park. The mountainous lefthanded slugger connected off Jim Lonborg for a solo shot to left in the fourth, and got Lonborg for another solo shot, to left-center, in the ninth to tie it at 2 (Tony Conigliaro hit a two-run shot for Boston in the sixth). In the 11th inning, Powell went deep over the Green Monster for a two-run homer off John Wyatt, driving in Frank Robinson and giving the Orioles enough for victory. Coleman had it right when he said, "What a show he has put on this evening!" Box score in comments. Not copyrighted. I don't claim the rights to, and don't profit from, this video. I just posted it for historical and educational purposes, and for those who will enjoy it as much as I did.
