💧 Aquarium Liquid Fertilizers SIMPLIFIED 💧 If you’ve ever stood in front of a shelf full of aquarium plant fertilizers and thought, “What do I actually need?” — this video is for you! In just a couple of minutes, I’ll break down the 4 main types of liquid fertilizers used in planted tanks and which ones actually make sense for beginners. 🌿🐟 1️⃣ All-in-One Fertilizers These promise everything your plants need—macros like nitrogen and phosphorus, micros like iron and boron, and secondary nutrients too. Sounds great, but there’s a catch: most low-tech tanks already get plenty of nitrogen and phosphorus from fish poop and food waste. Adding more can throw things off and cause algae problems. Not always the best choice unless you’re running a high-tech tank with CO₂. 2️⃣ Lite or Lean Fertilizers These skip the nitrogen and phosphorus and focus on what your tank might be missing—like potassium, iron, and other micros. They’re a great fit for low-tech tanks, slower-growing plants, and setups without CO₂. If you’re just starting out, these are often the best option. 3️⃣ Specialist Fertilizers These are single-nutrient bottles—iron-only, potassium-only, etc. While they sound smart, they’re usually overpriced and unnecessary for most beginners. Unless you’ve identified a very specific deficiency, you can skip these. 4️⃣ DIY Fertilizers You can mix your own with dry salts for maximum control and minimum cost. It’s great for advanced hobbyists with multiple high-tech tanks, but it’s too much hassle for most beginners. ✨ What do I use? I don’t use liquid ferts at all anymore. I rely entirely on fish waste, uneaten food, and decaying plant matter. It’s natural, simple, and effective—especially in low-tech tanks. My plants grow beautifully, and algae stays under control. 🌿🐠 Drop a comment if you use liquid ferts or go the natural route like me! #aquarium #fishtank #fishkeeping #plantedtank #plantedaquarium #aquariumplants #aquaticplants
