In this video I show the initial setup and use of the BTECH UV-PRO ham radio. I demonstrate how to update the firmware, turn off PTT Release ID, Turn on and off digital mode, demonstrate the Bluetooth Mic/Speaker, and give my initial impressions of the radio. I have been very please with the radio so far. The battery life is tremendous, it is feature rich, and it is very easy to program and setup. The use of the BTECH app makes it a breeze to program repeaters and frequencies as well as control some of the radio features. The BTECH app also has a great built in APRS feature, allowing you to see a viusal map of APRS signals, as well as send messages to other users. I was receiving complaints of a digital noise at the end of my transmissions and found that this was caused by the PTT Release feature. It was set to ID by default. Once I turned this off it went away. I also found that I was hearing APRS all the time, but this was because Digital Mode was turned off and I demonstrate how to turn off both of these. The BTECH BS-22 mic/speaker combo are my favorite part of this rig so far as it allows me to have the radio plugged into an external antena on the other side of the room and I am still able to operate easily and the sound quality is terrific. I did get the KISS TNC feature to work with the iOS RadioMail app, but I was not able to connect with the Winlink RMS, but this could simply be a settings issue on my part or the RMS is not active right now. This radio works on 2m and 70cm and has very very good sound quality and I have received nothing but good reports even using the stock rubber duck antenna.
