Today I’m giving you an inside look at how we keep and care for different isopod species. We’re talking ventilation level, diet, and what types of decor helps different isopods thrive. In this video you’ll see that not only do “roly polys” or “pill bugs” differentiate in size and color, but also behavior. Powder and powder-adjacent species tend to move quickly, whereas species like Peraccae stay in the same position for long periods of time. Some species prefer to spend most of their time burrowing down into the deepest substrate layer, while others hang out on the surface. Reproduction speed is another feature that varies between isopods.
