We will explore his sound design and arrangement in depth, utilizing our excellent friends Vital and Ableton so you too, may see how simple complexity can be, and create wubby Freeform Bass / Halftime bangers of your own. It's no secret that sine waves are the basis of every sound ever, and kLL sMTH is no exception. He loves harmonic basses, and takes a start of two simply layered sine waves and pushes them to their limit through profuse amounts of processing and filtering. For wubs, a bit of extra saturation & some OTT plus lowpass filtering will get the job done, but for the more neuro-y sounds, the infamous notch filter will be required (plus alot more otts) I also think chorus* adds such much welcomed stereo and a high fidelity flavor *(when using chorus be sure to use dedicated mono sub bass!) For grittier results have less lowpass filtering as well as more distortion and OTT! One sound I didn't show off in this arrangement however, were kLL sMTH's sustain basses. Luckily for us, they can be achieved with variations of the same techniques shown, but with little to no filter movement. Beyond that, experiment, and as always, be sure to like if you enjoyed the video, comment your questions and suggestions, and subscribe and click the bell to stay up to date with future tutorials :) Join the Discord to chat and collaborate with me and other like minded producers: / discord Check out my SoundCloud!
