Music City Usa 2022 Stevie Ray Vaughan (1954–1990) He was an influential American guitarist, singer, and songwriter who revitalized blues-rock in the '80s. Born in Dallas, Texas, he led the band Double Trouble, achieving international fame with their debut album Texas Flood (1983). Known for his passionate style and use of the Fender Stratocaster guitar, he released hits such as "Pride and Joy". After overcoming addictions, he published the acclaimed In Step (1989) before tragically dying in a helicopter crash in 1990. Birth: He was born on October 3, 1954, in Dallas, Texas. Influences: He began playing at age seven, inspired by his older brother, Jimmie Vaughan, and bluesmen such as Albert King and Jimi Hendrix. Education: He left high school in 1971 to pursue music, moving to Austin in 1972, where he played in several local groups. Double Trouble: He formed the band in 1978, along with Tommy Shannon (bass) and Chris Layton (drums).
