Chaitra Navratri : 9th April - 17th April 1. Durga Saptashati Durga Saptashati which is also known as Devi Mahatmya and Chandi Path describes the victory of Maa Durga over the demon Mahishasura. It is part of the Markandeya Purana, written by sage Markandeya. The text contains Saptashata i.e. 700 verses and because of that the whole composition is known as Durga Saptashati. The seven hundred verses are arranged into 13 chapters and during Navratri we aim to finish the 13 chapters either by listening or reading it. 2. Chant Mantra: Durga Gayatri or the 9 Mantras dedicated to the Navadurgas 3. Akhand Jyoti Every Sadhak should maintain the Akhand Jyoti for the nine days of Navratri as it resembles with your awareness and dedication to your Sadhana. At the end this light will remove your darkness. 4. Fasting/ Consuming light food Practice fasting or have only one meal per day so that most of your energy is directed towards your Sadhana and not in digesting meals 5. Pray and Meditate Remove some time everyday and dedicate it to Maa Durga and her forms. Visualise her and pray to her and work on every aspect of your behaviour that stops you from evolving 6. Intention If you are traveling or unable to practice any of this just pray to her and hold the intention of evolving on these nine days.
