Hi everyone! My name is Casey Molina! I'm a journalist and content creator with a passion for eco sustainability and racial inequality. Following the death of George Floyd and the reemergence of the Black Lives Matter movement there has been a global outcry for justice for countless Black Lives that have been lost to police brutality all around the world. Being in the midst of a pandemic and an impending election I know it's hard to stay engaged with the movements and causes we care about, but hopefully this video inspires you all to identify what type(s) of activists you are and figure out how you can have a sustainable impact in the movements you're passionate about! Below I've linked some resources to help us stay involved! To educate (yourself and others): Articles surrounding the topic of defunding the police / reducing police brutality -What is 'defunding the police' and does it work? https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov... -Will defunding the police make us safer? https://www.aclu.org/news/criminal-la... Books about race, racism, and black allyship -Why I'm no longer talking to white people about race: a book that breaks down the unspoken racial history of the UK and the interwoven politics of white supremacy. https://www.amazon.com/Longer-Talking... -White Fragility: discusses the psychology behind white defensiveness in racial topics and how this creates an inability to discuss race. https://www.amazon.com/White-Fragilit... -I am not your Negro by James Baldwin: unpublished essays, letters, notes, and interviews by James Baldwin that discuss the history of race in the U.S. https://www.amazon.com/I-Am-Not-Your-... Podcasts to listen to -Codeswitch: an NPR podcast that tells impactful narratives of BIPOC within the intersection of white supremacy and a racialized society. https://choice.npr.org/index.html?ori... -TheMindfulFemme - Justice for Black Lives: an intersectional femme podcast (by me!) that discusses the Black Lives Matter movement and the history of the police force in the United States. https://anchor.fm/themindfulfemme/epi... -Pod Save the People: dives into news, culture, social justice, and politics https://crooked.com/podcast-series/po...
