The formula is held down by laying the root hard on beat one, then Bootsy says, "fit your different notes, what you felt, in between there." And that's the funk. While D'Bootsy Bass Baby isn't a funk song, it is a classical take on Bootsy's formula. D'Bootsy was composed for the 2022 NAfME All-National Honor Guitar Ensemble by request of Chuck Hulihan. The piece received its world premiere on November 5th, 2022 at the NAfME National Conference and All-National Honor Ensembles event.
