How to Winterize Your RV | Blow Out Camper Water Lines Step-by-Step (No Antifreeze Needed!) Here we are again tinkering with a new project… this time it’s all about winterizing your RV or camper before freezing temps hit! ❄️ In this video, I’ll show you how to blow out your camper’s water lines using an air compressor — no messy antifreeze needed. This quick guide will help you protect your plumbing and keep your rig safe all winter long. 🔥 What You’ll Learn How to properly drain and blow out your RV water system What PSI to use when blowing out lines How to avoid cracked fittings and frozen valves A few small but critical winterizing steps most people forget 🧰 Tools & Supplies Used Air compressor (pancake or portable unit works great) Just about anything will work but here is an option that is small and easy for a camper setup - https://amzn.to/3L4qksW Kit - Splash RV & Marine -50°F Antifreeze 2 Gallon Set Flexible Plastic Funnel Spout and Sprinkler Blowout Adapter, Shut Off Valve - for Winterizing RV, Camper, Boat, Motorhome Systems - https://amzn.to/4hlXsbU Air hose for compressor to adapter - https://amzn.to/471FxDR RV-safe antifreeze (optional, for P-traps) - https://amzn.to/4nbnmQH You can check at ACE Hardware or Fleet Farm as well. 🔩 Step-by-Step Guide Turn off your water pump and disconnect from external water at the pole - leaving the hose connected to the import of the camper. Drain your fresh water tank completely. Open all low-point drains under the RV. Open each faucet (kitchen, bath, shower, outside). Attach the compressor and little adapter I made to the input of the water hose right where you unplugged it from the water at the post. Set compressor to 20-30 PSI (no higher). Blow out each line/faucet until only air comes out. Flush the toilet valve to clear that line. Pay special attention to the Hot water heater and outside faucet as well as the black water tank back wash line if you have one. Once everything is blown out - close all the tanks, black water, grey water, and low points etc. Pour a bit of RV antifreeze into each drain to protect P-traps. Pour a bit of RV antifreeze into the toilet and down into the Black and grey water tanks to help protect the seals for those tanks. This helps prevent cracking and drying of the seals when they are not in use. Double-check all faucets are open and no water remains. ✅ Done! Your camper is winterized and ready for hibernation. Bonus Tip: I always mix a few gallons of 50/50 RV antifreeze and water and label them with a W on the lid so if we are up in the late fall or winter and have to use the toilet we can flush it with the 50/50 mix and not compromise our tank and risk freezing. Be sure to check the directions for your rig, everyone is different - you may have a pump or multiply grey tanks etc. You need to drain and blow everthing out. 🏕️ Why This Works Blowing out the lines removes trapped water that can expand and crack pipes when frozen. It’s faster, cleaner, and cheaper than using gallons of antifreeze — and perfect for DIYers. If you don't like putting RV anti-freeze in your lines this is for you - although I put a 1/3 of a cup in my hot water heater you do not have to do that if you want to be 100% free of RV anti-freeze in your water lines. 🛠 Join the Community This channel is all about creativity and collaboration!
