The armbar is one of our favorite shoulder health drills for building movement capacity at end range internal and external rotation. Once you've gone through the basics a few times you are probably ready to progress this exercise into a more demanding positional tolerance drill. The advanced armbar is a great way to open your shoulders, pattern scapular retraction, free up your pecs, while challenging your obliques through anti-rotation. This drill should be done heavy if you want all of the shoulder stability benefits. Shoulder health is crucial for maintaining long-term performance, and one of our favorite exercises to build shoulder stability and range of motion is the armbar. This drill targets both internal and external rotation at the shoulder joint, making it an excellent choice for enhancing movement capacity. If you’ve mastered the basics, it’s time to level up and progress to a more demanding version of this exercise.
