This ride is definitely a bucket list ride and touring cyclists come from all over the world to ride it. It runs from Greymouth to Westport on the wild and untamed West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. We have split the route up in two stages. This route is the first stage which runs from Greymouth to Punakaiki. This is a varied ride shifting between flats segments, climbs, coastal scenery, inland scenery, and mountains. The ride starts on a day with perfect weather conditions. After 12 km you start to see the clear blue ocean. A few climbs on this route can be difficult (double digits gradients), but they are not very long. Altogether you climb almost 500 meters / 1600 feet. This is definitely a ride not to be missed. Your destination, Punakaiki, is a small community on the edge of Paparoa National Park and close to the popular Pancake Rocks. The ride ends at the Pororari River. Facebook: Do you like our videos?
