President Xi's visit came as Tibet celebrates its 70th anniversary of peaceful liberation. On Wednesday, President Xi visited Kala village in Nyingchi and learned about how the village has led local people to achieve prosperity and improved grassroots governance. In the home of villager Dawa Gyaltsen, President Xi talked with the family about their living standard and was very glad to know that the family's income exceeded 300,000 yuan (about 46,315 U.S. dollars) last year through the businesses in various aspects including transportation and farm production. President Xi encouraged them to keep current businesses in good performance and to well educate the next generation. President Xi said that the good life in Galai village is an epitome of the economic and social development in Tibet over the 70 years since its peaceful liberation. He emphasized well implementation of the CPC Central Committee's policies in supporting Tibet's development and fully advance of rural vitalization. President Xi then visited Kongpo Park to see the city's efforts on afforestation and infrastructure construction. He emphasized putting focus on the people and continuously improve the city's functions, so as to boost the quality of people's life. At a square, President Xi extended greetings to local people and tourists. "I sincerely hope that the life of people of all ethnic groups will keep improving and become better and better. I wish all of you a happy life and a good health. Tashi Delek (best wishes)!" he said. On Thursday, President Xi went to Nyingchi railway station, learning about the overall designing of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and the operation of Lhasa-Nyingchi railway section, and then went to the regional capital Lhasa by train. He inspected the construction along the railway during the ride.
