On December 26, 2004, the coasts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands were devastated by 50-foot waves following an earthquake of 9.1 on the Richter scale that literally shook the planet. At least 25,000 people were believed to have been killed on these islands alone. Host Mark Riedemann interviews Bishop Alex Dias, Bishop of the of the Andaman and Nicobar capital, Port Blair about the dramatic situation still today: Those whose homes were swept away find shelter in government camps; schools, hospitals and churches are still damaged or destroyed. Perhaps the greatest scars, however, rest on the hearts of the people.
