In this Physics video in Hindi for B.Sc. We explained the historical developement of quantum mechanics. Arguably, quantum mechanics started with the assumption taken by Max Planck during his explanation of blackbody radiation. Heassumed a constant named planck’s constant. Later, Albert Einstein used that constant and explained the photoelectric effect. He assumed that light comes in packets and he named those packets photon. And he found that the energy associated with a photon is the product of planck’s constant and the frequency of the photon. With the help of his special relativity equation he derived the equation for the momentum of photon, which turns out to be h/wavelength. Einstein showed that light behaves like particles. Meantime, Devvison and Germer, in an experiment showed that electron behaves like wave and they found diffraction of electrons. To explained this bizzare phenomenon Luis de Broglie came up with an hypothesis that there is a wave associated with every particle with momentum, which he named matter wave. He postulated that the wavelength of the matter wave is h/ momentum. Further Erwin Schrodinger gave two equations for that matter wave and named it as wave function. Those equations are known as Schrodinger equations. One is known as Time dependent Schrodinger equation and the other as Time independent Schrodinger equation. He mathematically drived the wave function and found that the wave function is function of imaginary number. Later, Max Born interpreted the meaning of that wave function and said that the square of the amplitude of the function gives the probability of finding that particle in that place. This probability concept is heavily criticised by Schrodinger and Einstein. The playlist of all the videos of this series • QUANTUM MECHANICS - from Birth to Adulthoo...
