Various of soldiers from ISAF contingent of Scottish Highlanders regiment patrolling in city STORYLINE: Security forces in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, last weekend (8/9 February) seized over 200 leaflets calling for a holy war against foreign troops deployed in the country. Although the security situation in Kabul is at present relatively stable, the discovery of the so-called "night letters" adds to worries that al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters may attempt to stage a comeback in the war ravaged country. At the headquarters of the local police in southern Kabul, Police Chief Sher Hosain said his men had found leaflets scattered on the roads urging Islamic militants to fight against foreign and Afghan soldiers. These propoganda sheets are rare here. Authorities believe such pamphlets are written by either former Taliban, al-Qaida members or supporters of renegade rebel leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. These German soldiers, members of the international peacekeeping force ISAF patrol on a Kabul street. About four thousand international peacekeepers are currently in Kabul to bolster security in the city. The command of ISAF changes on Monday from Turkey to a German/Dutch headquarters staff. At a graduation ceremony on Sunday, 600 newly trained soldiers were inducted into the Afghan National Army (ANA).
