When you test a lot of skincare, you are bound to come across one or two products that damaged your skin barrier. Our skin barrier is the outer layer that is often describes as the brick and mortar of our skin. Strong sturdy skin cells, quite literally cemented together with our fatty acids, ceramides and cholesterol. And it all plays a vital role in keeping the wrong things out of our skin as well as keeping the right things in. So damaging this barrier can lead to irritated skin, dehydrated skin, itchy, flaky skin, redness. Most likely in our case, from using actives excessively, over exfoliation, irritants in products, sun damage, humidity or dryness. And our skin also naturally stops re-producing these as we get older. So when this is damaged, its important to…build it back up. And we can do this by 1) simplify our skincare routine 2) pausing all actives and exfoliants and 3) using gentle products and products that contain those essential building blocks of our skin barrier. Such as cermaides. And today I'm sharing some products that have actually helped improve my skin when my barrier was destroyed. Dehydrated, soothed, moisturised and repaired. But wait before I get into it, I mentioned simplifying your routine, so by no means should you be using all of these products all at once, but just some inspiration for a product or two to slip into a very basic routine. ✖ Instagram - @james_s_welsh ✖ Twitter - @james_s_welsh (AD) Ole Henriksen Strength Trainer Peptide Boost Moisturiser: BOOTS UK: https://bit.ly/3HuZzr9 SEPHORA US: https://seph.me/3L7Ajt7 BONDI SANDS Fresh'n Up Gel Cleanser: https://bondisands.co.uk/products/fre... *SOME BY MI - Propolis B5 Glow Barrier Calming Serum: https://shrsl.com/3ddid *BEAUDIANI - Infusing Collagen Concentrate Mist: https://shrsl.com/3ddie 00:00 Intro / What is a skin barrier? 01:54 Ole Henriksen Strength Trainer Peptide Boost Moisturizer AD 05:06 Boni Sands Fresh'n Up Gel Cleanser 07:05 Beaudiani Infusing Collagen Concentrate Mist 08:29 Some By Mi Propolis B5 Glow Barrier Calming Serum 10:35 Sunscreen 10:51 Outro PRODUCTS IN THIS VIDEO (*= affiliate link) ICON MEANINGS: Present - Gifted Item (Product was sent to me as a gift, no money has been exchanged and there is no obligation to feature product(s) on social platforms) AD Megaphone - Sponsored item (Brand has paid me money and I have signed a contract for the item to appear in the video.
