How PC Music defined a new kind of pop (Interview A. G. Cook, SOPHIE, Charli XCX) | Arte TRACKS

A. G. Cook's label @PC Music defined a new approach to pop music and became synonymous with a genre. And it laid ground for what today is called "hyperpop". With the help of @Charli XCX the sound reached mainstream audiences Cook, as well as friends and colleagues like Danny L Harle, SOPHIE and dozens of producers and acts like EASYFUN, Umru, Felicita and many more completely blurred the lines between underground and mainstream pop. Acts like @Hannah Diamond and QT are celebrated as icons. Now, it seems a new era of PC Music has begun. Label founder A. G. Cook just released his first two solo albums "Apple" and "7G" where he also plays with indie rock elements – and with Planet 1999, PC Music recently signed their first actual band. We visited A.G. Cook in his covid hideout in Montana, USA to talk about the label's philosophy. This video by no means is a complete PC Music anthology and we know there are dozens of name drops we could have made.
