The smell and taste of 5 of your favourite Islay Peated Single Malt Scotch Whiskies might be about to change. Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky is more popular than ever, however changes at the Port Ellen Maltings on Islay will mean that non-Diageo distilleries will have their peated malt supply significantly reduced in 2023 and possibly stopped completely in 2024. Now that I have your attention let's all take a deep breath and pump the brakes. Nothing in whisky seems to happen quickly. These changes, if perceptible in terms of smell and taste, will take years to manifest in the whiskies we are buying off the shelf right now. Still I wanted to discuss these changes now and question what these changes might have in store for some of our favourite Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskies, and even some from off of Islay as well. We discuss the distilleries that should not be negatively impacted by the changes as well as 5 distilleries whose Scotch Whiskies might change in the coming years. Might your favourite be one of those that could be changing? Thanks as always for watching!
