I went back to the "Big Fish" gully at Beadnell in a MONSTROUS sea and bagged up with 11lb of Cod! In this session, the North East coast was throwing up some huge waves ("honey rollers"). I decided to ditch the fancy splashdown rigs and go back to basics with a simple swivel rig modification—and the result was crazy. The fish were feeding so aggressively that nearly every single one was gut-hooked! I also discuss why I hold the rod (braid in hand) to feel those shy bites in rough water and share some crucial safety tips for fishing rock ledges in these conditions. In this video: The "Secret" Rig: Why I swapped Splashdowns for a simple swivel setup (30lb Amnesia / 80lb Hook Length). The Catch: Landing 4 nice Cod (Total 11lb bag). Technique: Using "Braid in Hand" to feel every single knock. Safety: How to fish heavy swells without getting washed off. 🎣 Tackle & Bait: Rod: Century T900 (Perfect for rough ground). Reel: Shimano Bullseye. Rig: Modified Pulley/Swivel Rig (See 0:54). Bait: Cart Wings, Bluey, Peeler Crab & Mussel cocktail. ⏰ Timestamps: 0:00 - Intro: The RS3 & The "Monstrous" Sea 0:50 - The RIG HACK: Why I stopped using Splashdowns 2:45 - Baiting Up: Bluey & Cart Cocktail 4:00 - Reading The Water pressure & Safety Warnings 6:40 - Pro Tip: Why I hold the rod (Braid in Hand) 8:50 - FISH ON!
