𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠 Bringing together the entire Buddhist and Monpa community of West Kameng, the Central Losar Celebration, a three-day event, is being organized in Dirang by Monpa Mimang Tsokpa (MMT). People from Dirang and across West Kameng’s Buddhist community are actively participating in the celebration. The opening ceremony was held today in a grand manner with a carnival parade, where members of the Monpa community appeared in beautiful traditional attire. The streets were adorned with vibrant tableaux, music, and dance, filling the atmosphere of Dirang with joy and festivity. Upon reaching the festival ground, members of MMT and other dignitaries were welcomed with traditional “Tembrey” rituals. After that, carnival teams from the satellite villages of Dirang presented their cultural dances. As the program progressed, MMT President Dorjee Phuntso hosted the flag, marking the official commencement of the three-day festival. To ensure the event proceeds smoothly and to seek blessings for everyone’s wishes to be fulfilled during this Losar, Monks performed the traditional 'Phan Ramne' rituals. All the guests were warmly welcomed with a beautiful welcome song performed by the Monpa Institute of Performing Arts, followed by a welcome speech by Dirang Unit MMT President Dorjee Sharmu, addressing everyone on behalf of MMT. Guests representing the wider Buddhist community of West Kameng were honored and felicitated with Khada (traditional scarf), Khangjar (traditional coat), mementos, and souvenirs as a token of love and respect. Later, MMT President Dorjee Phuntso enlightened the audience about the history of Losar and its cultural significance in the Buddhist community. A significant part of the program included felicitating individuals from Dirang Subdivision who have contributed remarkably in different fields like education, agriculture, and other sectors, playing a vital role in the progress of society. To make the opening ceremony vibrant, a series of cultural performances were organized, including Yak Dance, Aji Lhamo Dance, and Snow Lion Dance. This year, Chief Patron of Central Losar and MLA cum Advisor to Minister of PWD and Highways, Phurpa Tsering, appreciated the entire MMT team for organizing such a grand celebration. He assured his full support in making the event a grand success. MLA Tenzin Nyima Glow also expressed gratitude to the organizing committee for involving him in the event and emphasized the interconnection between cultural preservation and indigenous festivals in tribal society. MLA cum Advisor to Minister of Tax and Excise, Dongru Siongju, extended his Losar greetings to the people of Dirang and praised the work of MLA Phurpa Tsering, stating that the progress in Dirang constituency will set an example for the entire Arunachal Pradesh in the future. The Chief Guest of the opening ceremony, General Secretary of Arunachal Indigenous Tribal Forum (AITF), Engineer Tapi Tai, thanked MMT for making him a part of the celebration and highlighted AITF’s efforts in preserving indigenous faith and culture. Finally, the Chairman of the Festival Committee extended heartfelt thanks to all the guests, public, and the team members involved in the program on behalf of the committee. The program concluded with a community feast, followed by traditional games competitions, marking the joyful end of the day.
