Let’s talk about what is numerical analysis? Numerical analysis is a branch of math that focuses on studying and developing numerical methods. Well that still might be confusing if you’re new to the topic, so let’s break these concepts down a bit further. Let’s begin with what a numerical method is. Numerical methods at their core are just another mathematical tool we are going to have to solve certain problems. But, how do that do that? Well put simply, they allow us to accept an approximate answer to a math problem rather than needing to find the exact solution. Previously in your math classes you have been solving problems analytically. Meaning we take some steps (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) to achieve the exact solution, however, sometimes finding the solution to a math problem analytically is impossible or just will take us too long.
