One of the greatest races in Reno Air Racing history. Jay Consalvi piloted Strega to win in 2017 Reno National Championship Air Races. Jay put on a master's class in flying, stocking and passing one of Reno's most elite pilots, Steven Hinton Jr for the win. I believe Jay's flying this day was one of the truly great piloting exploits in Reno's history. On this day he truly did have "The Right Stuff". Jay is a true "Stick and Rudder" man, that last lap pass is legendary! This was also a tough day for Steven Hinton Jr, A pedigree air race pilot, a true throw back to Hoover, Yeager, Tiger, Shelton, and his father. One of the most honorable families in aviation and one of the greatest pilots to ever fly the pylons! Jay and Steve definitely climbed to the top of the air racing pyramid in 2017!
