How to Install an external waste ink option on the Epson SP 2200 - The Printer Potty

The Epson Stylus 2200 is one of the great printer of it's day. Unlike anything among the batch of modern 13" wide capacity printers, this one is special. Though the rest have the capability of printing on up to 13" wide roll paper, the 2200 excels in that it features a roll paper auto cutting attachment. But enough of that. Now for the somewhat negative aspects. Unlike its big brothers of the RXXXX series, which are easily converted to an external waste ink bottle, the 2200 and earlier 2100 was very difficult to convert. Mainly because those two printer models did not have a removable, right side panel which provides direct access to the waste in tubes. So after much research and with the help of Martin from Octoinkjet ( www.octoink.co.uk ) I was able to figure out the secret behind this printer model and how to access the nearly hidden waste ink tube. In this video I try to demonstrate the waste ink modification from start to finish and finally install a new product manufactured by Octoinkjet humorously name the "Printer Potty" which if you think about it, is exactly what the printer does when it performs a cleaning or purge cycle. To reset the waste ink counters, you can use a utility called WIC and buy the required reset key from Octoinkjet. If you are brave soul, there is a manual reset process that you can run on the 2200. If you Google "Epson 2200 reset procedure", you will be able to find it. Using either method, you can return the printer's waste ink counter back to Zero.
