Arroyo and Megawati shake hands and walk together STORYLINE: Indonesian leader Megawati Sukarnoputri met Philippines president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Tuesday with the latter describing her Indonesian counterpart as her "sister". Speaking to the press after their first ever meeting, Arroyo said that just as their fathers were like brothers "we should also be like sisters, supporting each other as we seek solutions to problems we inherited in our respective nations." Both are daughters of ex-presidents, rule troubled Southeast Asian nations and recently swept to power under similar circumstances. Megawati met Arroyo in Manila on Tuesday on her first stop in an eight-day, whirlwind tour of nine members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The two leaders, along with their officials, were to discuss ways to further link their agriculture, fisheries and trade. Arroyo's spokesman, Rigoberto Tiglao said they will also discuss anti-poverty programmes, the centerpiece platforms of both their governments. Megawati is scheduled to travel to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia before returning to Jakarta on August 28.
