The base model featured a Volkswagen-derived flat-four engine, but the 914/6 variant housed a 2.0L flat-six from the Porsche 911T, producing around 110 hp. Despite its mid-engine layout and excellent handling, the 914 struggled with its boxy design and polarizing looks.
