This webinar facilitated the exchange of current research and policy strategies focused on protecting children from unhealthy food marketing. A diverse group of experts was invited to share their experiences on the topic. Speakers, including Charlene Elliot, Olga Zhiteneva, Jean Adamas, and Liv Elin Torheim, discussed and explored both existing research and current policy efforts, while also considering future strategies. Insights from recent studies on teen-targeted food marketing were shared, as well as experiences in developing these marketing restricting regulations, with recent legislative examples from the UK and Norway and latest developments of the WHO. Additionally, a discussion on the challenges and successes of introducing these regulations was held at the end, highlighting the difficulties of industry pushback and the influence of political will. Throughout the webinar, there was a strong emphasis on the critical need for these policies, with the ultimate goal of creating an environment that encourages healthier eating habits for children and the broader population.
