The Vanguard were a band from Winston-Salem, NC that existed from 1981 to 1994. Originally the band consisted of Mike Chamis (guitar), Robert Mitchell (guitar), Jon Heames (bass guitar) and Clark Huneycutt (drums). Later Paul Dillon (guitar) replaced Robert Mitchell. The band built a reputation for their exciting live shows, mixing ambitious covers with band originals. All members wrote original songs. Another feature of the group was switching instruments during the sets - Clark was an accomplished guitarist, and Jon would sometimes switch to drums or keyboards. Everyone had their turn on the bass! In 1991, due to the band's popularity at the club Ziggy's, the original owners proposed the idea of a reunion gig. The band decided to become a five-piece and did several shows showcasing their original material with multiple instruments (and the switching required!) and a double drum solo. This is a rare clip filmed and sourced by Brian Siskind, with audio remastering by Doug Williams. A splendid time was had by all...
