Today I took a long-tail boat from Krabi Town's pier with Adlam, a local that does boat trips around the mangroves. I had post-poned it many times already, either because I wasn't feeling like filming, or the days were stormy or rainy, or too hot. Today just happened that I was going down to the river side and Adlam touted the 1h trip and I had my camera, the weather was close to ideal and I had time. There's two parts, first we went to Khao Kanab Nam Cave, an island in the middle of the mangroves and rivers that has a cave where some pre-historic human remnants where found and the Japanese troops would use as hideout during their invasion of Krabi in WII, and then we went to cross a mangrove forest which was really nice. I guess you can more or less choose to do a bigger trip if you want by paying more, doing the mangrove crossing with a drone must be visually stunning at the right time of the day, there's also tours to the river village we saw and many other things you can choose to do. There's plenty of tourist counters along the riverside close to the town center and walking across the riverside you'll have also a lot of folks offering you these long-tail boat rides. I paid 500THB, around $16, that seems to be the "official" price. Now it's already "high-season" but when I arrived there were much less tourists and I was offered 300THB twice.
