Disneyland’s Indiana Jones Adventure, The Temple of the Forbidden Eye, August 1996

The Indiana Jones Adventure Temple of the Forbidden Eye was opened on March 3, 1995. I took this trip a year and six months after it opened. When you entered the attraction you were handed a decoder card with a key to the Mara glyphs on one side and an advertisement from AT&T calling card on the other side. I still have several cards in my Disneyland collection. As you enter the temple you start to see the writing on the walls that you could use the card to translate. The farther you went in the line, the more writing there was on the walls. You also felt you were going deeper into the temple. There was a bat cave and then an area where the celling would start to lower, and one were spikes would come up from the floor. As this was only a year and six months after opening, the effects were still working, and since there was no Fast Pass, you had plenty of time in line to see the show effects. Then you entered the digging chamber and watched the short film about 4 times. Watching it this many times made it easier to see all the easter eggs in the film.
