Aqua and sail from Olivine City to Vermilion City, marking our long-awaited arrival in Kanto. Upon docking, we’re introduced to a mysterious new character named Lawrence, a legendary Pokémon enthusiast who hints at future adventures involving the Seagallop Ferry and Shamouti Island—a tease for what’s still to come. After exploring Vermilion City, we jump straight into action by challenging Lt. Surge in our very first Kanto Gym battle. While Surge himself isn’t too threatening, the infamous trash can puzzle proves to be the real boss fight as we hunt for the hidden switches. Puzzle solved, we claim the Thunder Badge and keep the momentum rolling. Next stop: Saffron City. We enter Sabrina’s Gym and get lost warping through its maze-like rooms before finally facing the Psychic-type master herself. After an intense showdown, we emerge victorious once again and earn our second Kanto Gym Badge. To cap off the episode, we obtain a Spiky-eared Pichu holding the GS Ball, a mysterious Pokémon that will play a major role later in the journey.
