Battling 70mph Winds in Rocky Mountain National Park | Landscape Photography w/ Fuji GFX 50s II

With the full moon landing on a weekend and clear weather forecast, I knew that I had to make the trip up to Rocky Mountain National Park to see if I could photograph sunrise with the full moon towering over the rocky mountain peaks. What I didn't account for in the weather forecast was the WIND. With a storm system off to the west and rapidly warming weather near my home on the plains, the air was highly imbalanced, leading to howling winds as the temperature and pressure differences rushed to equalize. Despite the challenges of photography in strong winds, I was determined to find a composition of the full moon and the majestic mountain peaks. I packed my medium format camera kit (Fuji GFX 50s II and lenses) at 4am and hit the road up into the mountains. The experience was certainly memorable - leading to a pretty good haul of images and even more learning experiences. I know now how to better prepare for these conditions as well as found a few new spots that I can plan to photograph in the future. I hope you enjoy this morning's trip to the Rockies!
