Clintonville - An Early 20th Century Interurban Electric Substation - Part 1

This is the first part of a video series exploring the Clintonville Station, an early 20th Century electrical substation that powered the Elgin Branch of the Chicago, Aurora, and Elgin interurban railway. In this series, we'll provide an in-depth view of the Clintonville Station, located on Kenyon Road in South Elgin, Illinois, including its history and its role in the electric power distribution of the CA&E Railway, and the local community. We believe this building to be important, as it is one of the last of such types of buildings in the Chicagoland area, a manned electrical railway substation. In this video, we'll provide an overview of the station, including an in-depth tour of the main floor, the basement, the cupola, and the exterior.
