Mainly because it was my 7 year old daughter first race and first win!!! Had some chilly winter weather which I love but things did dry out and we had normal dusty conditions this area is famous for. While this race is also round 1 of the National hare and hound series the guys at Desert MC promised to do it justice and make for a challenging course. Because my family was with me and requested that we go home a a decent time I relented and decided to only do loop 1 and not the full race distance. I had a blast on loop 1 with an amazing course, pretty challenging with lots of variation on terrain but much more rocky than the check chase race. The opening section was a blast, at the end of the bomb we went straight into a wide fast sandy wash which made for some great opening pace. Then straight into some rocky rolling hills. The small silt section proved tricky and the many rocky sections and short hill climbs made for a challenging course. I really enjoyed the course and felt good even though I had 3 small mistakes. A++ from a novice first timer.
