In this message, we are reminded that love is not a personality trait or a preference. It is a defining mark of a disciple of Jesus. To be compelled by love means being moved, even forced, to love because there is no other option for those being transformed into Christlikeness. Drawing from Jesus’ words in Matthew 22, John 13, and Ephesians 5, this message explores what authentic relationships look like in the church, why love often requires sacrifice, and how loving others reveals Jesus to the world. Discipleship is not about comfort, control, or getting our way. It is about choosing love even when it does not feel right. Discussion Questions: 1) How does the sermon’s definition of “compelled” change the way you think about love? 2) Where do you find it hardest to love sacrificially, especially in the context of church relationships? 3) What are some ways we hide behind being “fine” instead of being authentic with others? 4) Why do you think Jesus ties love for others so closely to how the world recognizes His disciples? 5) What is one practical way you can choose love this week, even if it costs you something?
