I'm an OB/GYN and I specialize in taking care of women, and I take care of women of all ages. We take care of anything from fibroids to bleeding disorders to infertility to any other issues within women's health. How I got into OB/GYN was kind of an accident. I was part of this pilot program at Michigan State, and the proctor that I was supposed to be with was gone for two weeks. They sent me to the OB/GYN clinic, and I loved taking care of women and pregnant women and having surgical patients and patients in the office, and the rest is history. I think one of the things that helps me give the best care possible to my patients is knowing that everybody deserves to be listened to. When patients are listened to, they open up more and they trust you more, and that's the backbone of a patient relationship with a doctor is that trust. Since I am a big fan of travel, I almost always ask people about where they travel, where they go, and just what their life experiences are. To me, getting to know people helps with that doctor-patient relationship, and getting to know them on that level helps with their care. My teams at Spectrum Health Community Hospital are amazing. They take very good care of patients and the patients love them. When a patient leaves my office, I want them to feel satisfied with their care, I want them to feel like they've had all their questions answered and I want them to feel a sense of accomplishment when they leave, and then they've had the best care that they can get.
